Cheryl learned her craft from her grandmother and aunt, and perfected her skills as she sewed. She is very involved with the community, working with the youth, donating fabric scraps and samples to schools for instruction, and helping with fundraisers by donating quilts or sharing ideas.
Her quilts were shown at the Vietnam War Memorial in Pierre, and she has displayed her craft at the Community Building art shows in Eagle Butte.
