Artist Information

Warren "Guss" Yellow Hair, is a self-taught artist. He is a member of the Northern Cheyenne / Oglala Lakota Tribes and draws on his heritage to produce his traditional and contemporary style of art. Guss, as he likes to be called, is also a adjunct instructor for Oglala Lakota College and teaches Lakota language and traditional Northern Plains Art classes. Guss, is also a certified Interpetive / Cultural Tour Guide and can guide small, medium, and large group tours. Guss, recently began making handdrums and ceremonial drums to order. All of his materials are hand-carved cotton wood frames. Guss makes his own raw hide, the way his grandpa and grandma produced it. Guss earned first place honors and the Jurors Recogntion award at the 2010 Northern Plains Tribal Art show held in Sioux Falls SD. He placed in Division III with his ledger book art.
